Unfortunately for Boeing and the airlines that have ordered 624 of the type, the schedule for the aircraft keeps slipping to the right. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, speaking at the Morgan Stanley Laguna Conference earlier this month provided a warning about the certification of the 777X, stating “We’re clearly behind our plan in getting the certification done.”Â
With a fifth test airplane recently added to the fleet, the industry believed that the certification process was finally moving smoothly, only to have that image shattered by this news. One of the complaints about Boeing over the years has been a lack of transparency into development programs, particularly the 787.
