Aerolíneas Argentinas and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines System) have signed an interline agreement, already in effect as it started this month, expanding the connection possibilities for the South American airline to destinations in Northern Europe.
Passengers flying with Aerolíneas Argentinas to Rome can now connect with SAS flights to Copenhagen and Stockholm. At the same time, travelers from Denmark and Sweden can continue their journey to Argentina with Aerolíneas Argentinas.
“With a single ticket, travelers can complete their entire itinerary without hassle, from check-in at the origin airport to their final destination, thanks to our efficient through check-in system,” Aerolíneas Argentinas stated in a press release.
“In case of missed connections attributable to any of the airlines involved in the ticket itinerary, we guarantee passenger re-accommodation, ensuring they reach their final destination without disruptions,” they added.
Aerolíneas Argentinas operates six weekly flights between Buenos Aires and Rome using Airbus A330-200 aircraft, offering 1,632 seats per week in each direction. This agreement mirrors the one signed with Chilean Sky Airline, allowing travelers to access initially to 61 domestic destinations in Argentina, Chile and Peru. Other destinations in the Americas -such as Sky’s A321 Lima-Miami- will be added in a second stage.
SAS operates a daily flight from Stockholm to Rome with a mix of A320 and A320neo aircraft and eleven weekly flights from Copenhagen using A320neo and Embraer E195 aircraft, providing 3,146 seats per week each way.
The airline will join the SkyTeam alliance (the same as Aerolíneas Argentinas) next September, following the Air France-KLM group’s acquisition of a 20% stake last October.
