As if world events were not causing enough anxiety, here’s another data point to add to your aggravation. It looks like the duopoly is experiencing a delivery slowdown.

The close pattern from the duopoly is, shall we say, interesting.  It is consistent and suggests something is happening. The year started so well. We were upbeat after the 1Q25.

These two charts provide a sense of the inventory’s situation. We don’t show Embraer because they regard the data we need as “secret.

If you thought the airlines were desperate to get their new airplanes, why is inventory rising? Bear in mind that inventory, as we define it, counts an aircraft in inventory after its first flight but not yet delivered. That means the aircraft has everything it needs to operate. We don’t think there is a quality issue slowing deliveries.

  1. It could be critical component deliveries such as engines can’t catch up with airframe production ramp up. Not sure Airbus and Boeing inventories have common backgrounds though.
