We are 79 days into 2025, and United has taken delivery of 22 new aircraft YTD as of this writing. It’s 7:45 am US East Coast time, so more may be delivered later today.
Last year, Southwest took a new MAX 8 approximately every four days. Now, we have United, averaging a new airplane every 3.6 days. Whereas Southwest was supplied exclusively by Boeing, United is taking from both sides of the duopoly. Here’s a metric giving this delivery rate context – United has, to date, taken delivery of 10% of 2025 duopoly deliveries!
Co-Founder AirInsight. My previous life includes stints at Shell South Africa, CIC Research, and PA Consulting. Got bitten by the aviation bug and ended up an Avgeek. Then the data bug got me, making me a curious Avgeek seeking data-driven logic. Also, I appreciate conversations with smart people from whom I learn so much. Summary: I am very fortunate to work with and converse with great people.
