It’s December 15, halfway through the month.  Here’s our delivery score as of this hour.

Their targets weren’t the same:

  • Airbus started at ~820 and then dropped to ~790.  How they close the gap is going to be something miraculous.
  • Boeing never provided an official number; the analysts settled on ~590, and we expected 540.  Boeing blew through our target last week. We think Boeing might close that gap more easily than Airbus can.

While Boeing looks like the orders winner this year, thanks to a blowout Dubai show, Airbus has delivered far more aircraft.  Airbus has been constrained by engine deliveries (single-aisle) and cabin fixtures (widebodies).  They could have had a superb 2025 were it not for supply chain challenges.

Boeing, on the other hand, faced similar supply chain challenges. The FAA’s rate limit slowed single-aisles, but there was a large inventory to help ease the impact.  The FAA and seat deliveries also delayed widebodies.  In 2026, we should see FAA rate limits eased more and Renton pumping out MAXs in the mid-40s every month.
