Multiple media reports emerging from the IATA meetings in Korea indicate that Airbus will launch a new longer range variant of the A321, the A321XLR, at the Paris Air Show later this month.  Reports also indicate that JetBlue will convert some of their existing A321neo or A321LR orders to the new model as the program launches, and that on-going discussions between Airbus and other potential customers focused on opening new longer routes.

We understand that the A321XLR will have the capability to transport 220 passengers on routes more than 4,700 nautical miles, enabling trans-Atlantic services from the US east coast and central Europe.  While he made no commitment, Christian Scherer, Airbus CCO, indicated that the airplane could potentially be ready for the market in the 2023-2024 time frame.
