Daily Insight: Thursday 24 January 2019: Bombardier-Triumph Deal a Mutual Win

News:  Bombardier agreed to take over the wing manufacturing for the Global 7500 from Triumph Group.  The wing manufacturing facility and employees in Red Oak, Texas will move from Triumph to Bombardier.  Technically, this is an excellent wing, helping the Global 7500 to achieve M.925 while also having steep approach capabilities.

Analysis:  Triumph has been losing money on its wing contracts for business aircraft, first shedding the G650 wing to Gulfstream and now shedding the Global 7500 wing to Bombardier.  With the wing production as the worst performing segment at Triumph, this was a logical place for restructuring and will clean up their financial performance.
