On Tuesday, the Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aéreas announced its plans to reject the contracts of 12 Embraer E195-E1 aircraft. The carrier’s E1 fleet will be reduced by 40% by the end of 2023, compared to 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, as Azul moves on to the next-generation E2. 

Azul is set to reduce its E195-E1 fleet. The airline announced today the exit of 12 aircraft Embraer E195-E1s from its current passenger operating fleet until the end of 2023. Azul’s passenger operating E1 fleet will be reduced by 22 aircraft compared to 2019, representing a 40% reduction and a significant acceleration in its fleet transformation plan.
