News from Asia overnight comes with two order announcements. Cathay is ordering four 777-300ERs and 8 777Fs. SIA is ordering eight more 777-300ERs. This is great news for Boeing and a reaffirmation that its 777 program continues doing very well.
The orders are also welcome because these airplanes are not a discounted as much as 737s. Therefore, relatively, Boeing will make good money on these sales. Boeing’s net orders YTD for the 777 is 79. So the orders jump that number to 99, a nice 25% increase. Lots of smiles at Boeing today.
