News Stories indicate that Willie Walsh, head of International Airline Group, parent of British Airways, Iberia, AerLingus, Veuling and Level, was upset with Airbus being late with deliveries of A320neo aircraft, and that was a factor influencing his controversial decision to purchase 200 Boeing 737MAX aircraft at the Paris Air Show.
Walsh, a former 737 pilot, indicates that “When the Max comes back into service it will have gone the most thorough examination of any aircraft anywhere, anytime,” Walsh said. “That’s why I think people will have confidence in the aircraft.” Whether that is true in an era of social media remains to be seen.
