Airbus has gone public with a vision for new aircraft using hydrogen by the middle of the next decade.  But between now and then there are several steps.  Amanda Simpson, Vice President of Research & Technology at Airbus Americas, explains the steps from SAF (and its challenges) to hydrogen and the major impact this is going to have on aircraft design.

The path to the mid-next decade gives Airbus little time to firm up its thinking in terms of aircraft layout and design.  Then the industrialization process comes next.  However, Amanda is confident that within a few years we might expect orders for these new aircraft.
