Airbus is testing automatic take-off and landing capabilities with A350-1000. These first steps, along with the auto-landing capabilities for general aviation aircraft to be certified early this year, indicates that the age of automation assisted operations is slowly but surely arriving. Â
The Airbus system incorporates a vision system to track the runway centerline and rotates the aircraft without side-stick from the pilot. Flight tests were carried out in Toulouse in December and performed eight test flights that day. Vision-based taxiing and landing tests will be conducted later this year.
