In one of the most interesting competitions of 2019, Deutsche Lufthansa plans to acquire a triple-digit number of either Boeing 737MAX or Airbus A320neo aircraft for fleet expansion. The winner of this competition will be announced early next year. A 3 digit order will add more than $1 Billion in backlog to one of the OEMs at list prices.
A320neo aircraft, but does not operate the 737MAX nor have any currently on order. Boeing is clearly in the competition, said Carsten Spohr, Lufthansa CEO, who stated “we have not lost our trust in Boeing. They’ve build wonderful aircraft over the decades, and I am sure they will fix the current issue.”
