Sukhoi tweeted this interesting image this morning. The 2015 MAKS show starts next week and the timing on the image is excellent. It also reinforces something many don’t realize – the SSJ is a credible airplane. Unfortunately politics is getting in the way of its success.Â
Interjet in Mexico, the first and only airline outside the CIS to fly the aircraft, is pleased with it and has started to exercise some of its options. One does not see it reported much, but the SSJ is beating its fuel burn numbers. It offers many airlines a credible solution because of its very competitive pricing which has improved with a weaker Ruble.
By comparing only to in-service aircraft, they conveniently didn’t have to include the C Series and MRJ.
I would bet that if a carrier insisted, Bombardier could find a few C Series delivery slots available in 2016…
The problem for BBD is that no carrier is interested in the C-series atm…
