United is ending a sparkling year. The doubling of its stock price this year reflects this.
It was not obvious that the airline would have such a great year. After all, it is Boeing’s biggest customer. With 150 MAX 10s on order, United has removed them from its fleet plan. The airline successfully pivoted to the A321 in a way few could have expected. After all, the A321 is the most in-demand single-aisle model. Even pre-owned A321neo models are snapped up. The Alaska Airlines fleet was retired and quickly found a new home at American Airlines.
Co-Founder AirInsight. My previous life includes stints at Shell South Africa, CIC Research, and PA Consulting. Got bitten by the aviation bug and ended up an Avgeek. Then the data bug got me, making me a curious Avgeek seeking data-driven logic. Also, I appreciate conversations with smart people from whom I learn so much. Summary: I am very fortunate to work with and converse with great people.
