Airbus is quietly doing its thing in Mobile. Here is a view of the FAL in Mobile.
They appear to be doing production according to plan. They currently have five aircraft in production (the first is for JetBlue, the remainder for American) and another one due soon.
As for the first aircraft, it is making its way through the stations in the FAL, and it appears Airbus is on target for first delivery in the 2Q16. The Mobile FAL has 300 people working there now, and Airbus reports hiring will continue throughout 2016 (they posted another position just last Friday and some earlier last week). Airbus Americas is looking forward to first flight of a US-produced aircraft and most importantly, its first delivery.

All but one of the first 50 aircraft to come off the Mobile line will be A321s and it looks likely that Mobile will be knocking out mainly A321s and A321neos for a considerable time to come, because of the American, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue Airways, Spirit Airlines and Virgin America orders for A321s and A321neos. I wonder if and when United will climb on to the A321neo bandwagon.
