We have mentioned that the I-92 dataset is the quickest reporting source on international travel from the United States.
A recent August update allows us to update the model.
The table shows world regions and traffic distribution. The charts list some significant areas.
- The top chart shows slow and steady traffic growth. Seasonality is muted, indeed more muted than we would have expected.
- The second chart is EU-focused and shows distinct seasonality. Winter traffic is soft, while summer traffic booms. The summer travel boom is increasingly unwelcome in Europe.
- The third focuses on the Caribbean. As one would expect, we see distinct seasonality. September is the slowest month.
- The fourth chart focuses on Latin America. There is some seasonality, but it seems to be changing. February seems to be at a low point, and July seems to be at a high point. Could it be that increased air service from Latin carriers is opening US markets and evolving traffic flow? If this is the case, then the imminent arrival of the long-range single-aisle could change the way traffic flows to other regions.
