Bombardier announced an order for 10 Challenger 350 super-midsize aircraft yesterday from an undisclosed customer, representing one of the largest business jet orders in 2020. This major order for new aircraft is indicative of the recovery currently occurring in the business jet market and adds to optimism at Bombardier.

“The order highlights the tremendous value customers place on the unmatched capabilities of our aircraft,” said Eric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier. “Bombardier’s newly refreshed portfolio and growing service network position the company well to respond to growing interest in private aviation and the enhanced safety it provides.”

The order comes amidst a V-shaped recovery for domestic business jet operations and a near full recovery to 2019 activity levels. There appears to be building growth in business aviation as the global pandemic has generated new customers for business aviation resulting from a desire to travel privately rather than via an airline

Even with international border closures limiting international business jet traffic, the recovery in business aviation has generated a level of interest with aircraft brokers not seen since 2007 during December.  This bodes well for the future for both the business aircraft sector as well as Bombardier.
