Two new models, the midsize Preator 500 and super-midsize Preator 600 were introduced by Embraer today just prior to the NBAA annual convention.  Michael Amalfitano, President and CEO of Embrear Executive Jets said “the Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 are the disruptive aircraft for the entrepreneur, for the pioneer, for the innovator.  The Praetors are aircraft certainly in keeping with their name, leading the way in redefining the characteristics of what a midsize and super-midsize aircraft deliver to the market.  The introduction of these aircraft support our vision of fascinating our customers and providing them with superior value and the best experience in the industry.

The Preator 500 will be the fastest midsize aircraft, capable of reaching Europe from the US West Coast with a single stop.  The Preator 500 has a 4 passenger NBAA range of 3,250 nautical miles.  As the only midsize business jet with full fly-by-wire technology and active turbulence reduction, it will provide a smooth flight in the 6 foot tall flat-floor cabin.  With a 5,800 cabin altitude, the pressurization system also leads its class.  

Powered by the fuel efficient Honeywell HTF 7500E engines, the Preator 500 also features the state-of-the-art Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite with four 15.1 inch high-resolution LDC displays and paperless operations capability.  Capabilities include graphical flight planning, an industry-first vertical weather display, and air traffic contol like situation awareness with ADSB-IN, predictive wind-shear radar capability, Jeppesen charts and maps, an Intetial Reference System and a Synthetic Vision Guidance System.   An optional Enhanced Vision System with a Head-up Display and Enhanced Video System is also available. 

The new Preator 500 and Preator 600 will be the most disruptive and technologically advanced aircraft to enter the midsize and super-midsize categories,” said Luciano Froes, Sr. VP Marketing.  “Different by design and disruptive by choice, these new aircraft will deliver the ultimate customer experience with an unparalleled combination of performance, comfort, and technology.”

The Preator 600 will be the longest-range super midsize business jet, enabling non-stop London to New York flights,  with a range of 3,900 nautical miles with 4 passengers and NBAA reserves.

The Preator 600 features the same engines, avionics and technology as the Praetor 500.

The cabins of each aircraft also have interesting technology innovations, beginning the the Upper Tech Panel that displays flight information and offers cabin management features that are also available on personal devices.  Internet capability of 16MBPS will be available by satcom that enables Internet Protocol TV.  

Both aircraft will offer the Bossa Nova interior, inspired by Embraer’s Brazilian heritage.  “With personal comfort as the key design driver, the Embraer DNA Design will render an unparalleled passenger experience in the Praetor Jets.  Upon the foundation of ergonomics a superior craftsmanship, each customer’s personal design style will be reflected through the cabin,” said Jay Beever, VP of Interior Design.

The Bottom Line

Embraer, having introduced 13 new models in 14 years across its division, is continuing its focus on innovative new aircraft.  The Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 will further fill out Embraer’s business jet product line in the midsize and super midsize categories.
