In a significant change of strategy, flydubai will add Boeing 787-9 widebodies to its 737 and MAX fleet. The airline will take delivery of 30 Dreamliners to further expand the network and add capacity to existing routes. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

The order was announced in the afternoon of the first day of the Dubai Airshow, immediately after Emirates and Boeing signed agreements for more 777X and 787s. Emirates Chairman Sheik Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stan Deal remained seated at the same table, while Emirates signs were changed for those of flydubai.
