supply chain management

Care to share?

For some weeks, we have been building and refining (and continue refining) a data model tracking production and deliveries for the four OEMs. It is tedious work, but we believe the outcome is worthwhile. The attention industry attracts global attention because of its global supply chain. Few economies are outside the supply chain, and the number of countries trying to get into it grows.

We are sharing a simple version of the model here; the more detailed model is available to subscribers. Remember, click the double-headed arrow at the bottom right of the model to optimize your view.

The model focuses on in-production commercial programs, excluding freighters.

Three pages provide a valuable overview of the industry’s progress.

  • Page 1 lists the production and delivery trends.
  • Page 2 lists each OEM production and deliveries to date.
  • Page 3 lists the OEMs by the number of delivery days; we define this as the period between the first flight and delivery. As the OEM programs mature, you expect to see the curves move down over time. Exogenous factors like strikes and program delays cause upswings.

Your feedback on this is welcomed, as you can help further refine this output.
