Since the 737 MAX crashes and the 787 quality issues that have stopped production, there has been considerable focus on Boeing quality. The company introduced an improved Boeing safety system, which was the focus of a recent press briefing by Michael Delaney, Chief Aerospace Safety Officer. The Federal Aviation Administration this week limited Boeing’s Organization Designation Authorization and renewed it, with exceptions, for only three rather than the requested five years. Finally, the Boeing 787 has not had a new delivery in more than 12 months as the company and FAA deal with a series of quality issues on the airplanes, some of which could impact aircraft already in service.
