CFM LEAP-1B on Boeing 737 MAX
CFM faces the same pressures as other engine OEMs – too few resources. But there’s an additional item: protecting its brand and parts. Fake parts were a huge problem last year. GE Aerospace and SAFRAN, the partners in CFM, helped create the Aviation Supply Chain Integrity Coalition to help further ensure the integrity of the aerospace supply chain.
This is why CFM announced this new branding. The industry benefits from an open MRO ecosystem but must ensure its integrity. Safety cannot be compromised. The fake parts experience rocked the entire aerospace industry.
The open MRO ecosystem for LEAP engines is designed to meet growing engine maintenance and support demand. This ecosystem includes CFM’s internal network, diverse service providers, airline shops, and independent MROs.
All LEAP MRO providers are committed to high-quality maintenance services to support the same high engine residual value seen on the CFM56.
This structure ensures customers can choose the best service options to meet their needs – specific work scopes, component repair, or complete restoration overhauls. There are five CFM LEAP Premier MRO shops: Air France Industries, KLM Engineering & Maintenance, Delta TechOps, Lufthansa Technik, ST Engineering, and StandardAero.
Although these MRO shops are already the industry’s premier brands, operators have confidence in the parts they will use. Not only parts but engineering talent works with these parts to ensure the serviced engine is at optimal standards when re-delivered. This effort looks like an excellent way to ensure that serviced LEAP engines are confidently returned to service.
