While Southwest Airlines doesn’t believe there will be a major impact from customers unwilling to fly the MAX, there are indications that even some aviation enthusiasts are wary about the re-certified airplane.

In two recent web surveys on Twitter by Jon Ostrower and Henry Harteveldt, which are followed primarily by aviation industry insiders, nearly 40% in each indicated they would not fly the MAX.  That result is higher than one might expect from aviation insiders, and reflects on both the internal culture at Boeing that enabled the initial problems with the MAX and a lack of confidence in the FAA certification process.
