Today at the Regional Airline Association convention in Nashville, Mesa Airlines, Inc. and Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation signed an MOU for 100 SpaceJet M100 aircraft. The agreement anticipates 50 firm orders and 50 purchase rights. Mesa anticipates using the M100 in capacity purchase agreements with US major airlines, with deliveries beginning in 2024.

Hisakazu Mizutani, President of Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, stated “As we developed the Mitsubishi Space Jet family, we knew that we had changed the way that passengers and airlines will think about regional travel. Mesa Airline’s selection of the SpaceJet M100 confirms that our aircraft fulfills current and future needs in this industry, and that airlines are ready to move our discussions forward.”

Jonathan Ornstein, Chairman and CEO of Mesa Air Group, stated “The US mainline carriers are looking for an aircraft that will allow them to provide a consistent premium passenger experience from their regional to their long-haul fleets. With its large cabin, comfort, new technology and low operating costs, the Mitsubishi SpaceJet M100 can deliver this premium experience within US scope clauses.”

The parties are expected to finalize the MOU into a firm contract over the next few months.
