ALC and Avolon report year end numbers

These are two influential lessors who are bellwethers for the industry.  The numbers of Air Lease Corporation and Avolon offer a view of the commercial aviation “market makers.”  In early 2023, there were still questions about commercial aviation for investors.  In 2021, there were brave voices who saw a V-recovery coming.

White & Case published a report on the commercial aviation leasing market.  The report highlights lessor flexibility and cheap financing. Interest rates are much higher now, but the market still favors lessors.  The demand for aircraft remains strong.  But the OEMs cannot deliver fast enough.  This is not only a supply chain

recovery issue – the MAX grounding impacts the market along with program hiccups.
