Graham Webb is P&W Chief Sustainability Officer and has a great overview of the company’s projects pertaining to improving aviation sustainability. We spent some time with him to better understand how P&W is doing with its hybrid power solutions.

Arguably this year’s airshow is more about engines, especially electrical motors, than aircraft. The number of ideas and solutions being discussed and shown off is remarkable.  Most of these projects come from new entrants to the aviation arena.  The well established brands in the engine business have been busy. Here’s the story from P&W.

To our surprise it turns out there is more than one focused on aviation. Crucially we also found out the approach focuses on a 1Mw program that is directed at general aviation.  Read PT-6.  The other is much larger and focuses on a 20Mw solution applicable to single aisles.

As he explains the programs are far into development and testing.
