Gordon Preston, Vice President, Marketing for Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, America presented the Regional Market Outlook at RAA 2018, as well as discussing some of the features of the MRJ. The outlook for the regional market is robust, but growth patterns and geographic distribution will change over the next two decades.
He began with an analysis of traffic flown by regional aircraft, defined as narrow-body aircraft under 100 seats. That analysis indicates that regional airlines fly 37% of operations in North America and 27% of operations worldwide, as shown in the chart below. That represents a substantial portion of all global flights.
