Problems with High Pressure Turbine blades have emerged on the Trent 1000 TEN engine used on the 787-10 aircraft, and Singapore Airlines is performing engine changes on its 787-10 fleet. The Trent 1000 TEN is a derivative of the Trent 1000 program, and is likely to experience the same issues as on some of the other models utilizing similar materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
Rolls Royce is already facing a massive challenge with Intermediate Compressor and High Pressure Turbine Blades on other models, including the B and C revisions to the Trent 1000. The Trent 1000 TEN is the latest of this engine family to experience difficulties, and will likely be addressed with the same revised blade designs as other engines in the Rolls Royce family.
