Vietjet finalized a firm order for 20 A330-900 aircraft at Farnborough that were the subject of a memorandum of understand signed in February with Airbus at the Singapore Air Show. That firmed up the carrier’s earlier wide-body order.
VietJet Aviation JSC, Vietnam’s only private airline, signed the contract today for aircraft valued at $7.4 billion at current list price. The agreement will boost “VietJet’s growing long-haul services as well as on routes with high demand in the region” according to a statement from the company. The aircraft are “slated to replace VietJet’s current fleet of A330-300 and support the strategic plan to expend its intercontinental flight network,” according to the statement.
This previously announced MoU has now become a firm order for Airbus. While no ceremony was held at the Air Show, the firming up of this order will likely be included in the official air show transaction counts.
