There was a flutter of news about this news early this week. Then as the week progressed, new information emerged.  For example, Mitsubishi noted that “Some media have reported today that our group company Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation will carry out an increase in its capitalization. Neither Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) nor Mitsubishi Aircraft has made an announcement to that effect. MHI and Mitsubishi Aircraft are currently considering measures for resolving the latter’s burden of liabilities exceeding its assets, but as of now, no formal decision in the matter has been taken. In the event that a decision concerning the matter is rendered, we will promptly disclose such information as necessary.”

A story from Reuters indicated the parent company was injecting $2Bn into the aircraft program. There was another Japanese source as well. This news, coming out at the same time as the lawsuit was announced, could have presented a picture of this support being related to helping the aircraft program overcome any negative impact from the lawsuit.  Turns out there is no $2Bn in MRJ support.
